''[[claw:| <<< Classical Mileth Law ]]'' \\ ===== Laws of Punishment V ===== Pardons- The Demagoguery may issue pardons to aislings convicted of crimes by the judiciary system who are to be punished or are already serving punishment sentences. It does not erase the criminal record, only the punishment is not applied or continued. For the Demagoguery to issue a pardon the aisling seeking a pardon must send a letter to a Demagogue or Burgess explaining why they should be pardoned and any mitigating circumstances involved in their case. To prevent any favoritism among officials guild mates and family members in office cannot handle a pardon request of a fellow guild mate or family member, but they may vote on it.    It is up the Demagogue/Burgess whether to open voting on the pardon. The Demagogue/Burgess will then post the letter of pardon on the Demagoguery board and open voting. He should also send a letter to all Demagogues and Burgesses in office informing them of the voting. Voting shall last one moon ((3.5 days)), and Demagogues and Burgesses should post their vote on the board or send it to the Demagogue. While voting is going on there shall be a moratorium to any punishment being carried out against the aisling who applied for a pardon, if the punishment has not yet been applied. A 2/3rds majority of those who voted is required for a pardon to be issued. If 2/3rds is achieved the voting results should be posted on the Demagoguery board and the Justice Hall right most board, announcing the pardon. If a demagogue executes an exile without proper orders (see above) they will be found to be abusing their power and will be removed in accordance with the Persistence of Authority law.    The same goes for un-exiles unless the criminal's term has expired. Forgery on an order for substitution will result in removal of said official and punishment as described in section II. In extreme cases, if there are no officials in Temuair, and a criminal is committing a crime of the first degree, or attempting and citizens are in grave danger.    A demagogue can exile, provided the evidence is forwarded to the first available Guard Captain for further review.    If there is no evidence, nor proof of the reasons for exile, said Demagogue faces removal and/or punishment. If there is a non-active Judge in office a letter must be sent by the highest ranking official, if there is no response within a reasonable amount of time ((3.5 days)) they shall be considered to no longer be in office until they return and then once a post is placed on the appropriate boards the 3 Guard Captains for 1 Judge substitution can take place.
