Harassment, Slander, Intimidation Law III

On Slander:
The act of slandering an Aisling or otherwise defaming their character is prohibited in the town of Mileth.

Slander/defamation of character is defined as:
Any statements, verbal or written of a false, malicious, or defamatory nature, intending to damage another Aisling's reputation or means of livelihood. If there is proof of a crime committed, this needs to be taken to a guard, not posted about upon various boards in the Mileth providence before a guard has seen or acted on the evidence.    ((i.e. posting someone is a criminal where you have proof but have not yet taken it to a guard or a guard has not yet taken action.    The person is not a criminal until proven to be one and saying this even with proof is malicious)) Also, the act of impersonating another Aisling may be considered slander. (An Aisling may state dislike or a negative opinion about another Aisling so long as it does not include profanity, ((any OOC remarks)) and is stated to be an opinion and not fact.    Any opinion stated as fact will be required to be removed or considered slander, and it does not imply something as a concrete fact that there is no evidence of.)

A guard or guard captain must review all reports of slander and if an Aisling intends to prosecute, evidence ((i.e. screenshots)) must be provided. In the case of a post the guard or guard captain must contact either a demagogue or burgess to remove the post if the aisling refuses to. Punishment will fall under the Laws of Punishment.
